Create A Discount

Create A Discount, from The EDM Guide to Shopify. This covers all 7 sections, in about 1 minute.

Discounts lists every code and automatic offer your store runs, with the status, method and type of each.

Click Create discount to start a new offer.

Choose the type: amount off products, buy X get Y, amount off order, or free shipping. This one discounts the whole order.

Choose code or automatic. Automatic discounts apply themselves at checkout; codes must be entered by the customer.

Name the code. Keep it short and easy to type.

Set the value, here ten percent off the order.

Eligibility targets everyone, specific customer segments, or hand-picked customers.

Ask for a minimum spend or quantity before the code works, or leave it open.

Cap the total number of uses, or limit it to one per customer.

Combinations are off by default. If this code should stack with another offer, allow it here, and on the other discount too.

Set start and end dates, so a sale switches itself on and off.

Click Save, and the discount is live by the rules you set.
